Some updates

Gear: We expect the Gear we recently ordered to be in around the 8th May. Will update once we have confirmation and we will arrange an evening for people to collect their orders and pay the balance.

Tuesday & Thursday Spins. We have started Spins on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the summer. They depart at 7:00am from Clogheen.  Best advice is to join the club WhatsApp group to get regular updates on these spins. Contact Stephen Grant (on Facebook) to be added to the WhatsApp group.

As part of National Bike Week we will be holding a Family cycle event in Clogheen on Sunday June 21st. We are still working on the details but this will probably include an 8K family cycle, bouncy castles, facepainting, Turbo trainers, Bike Maintenance demonstration.  More details will be announced once we finalise details but for the moment save the date.

Nenagh CC Summer League‏

Nenagh CC, will be running a mid week race series on Thursday evenings.

Route:
The course is to remain the same starting at on the old N7 (R445) at Gooig (between Birdhill and Dalys x next to McGills garden centre), up through Birdhill, onto Nenagh roundabout and back to Birdhill, 35km in all and finishing in a good tough (and safe!) battle up the ramp (towards the motorway) at Birdhill.  This route is an excellent open road and is perfect for getting speed in the legs for racing.

Groups:
They will have a minimum of 3 groups each night including an A1-A3 group, an A3-A4 group and a beginner group either for those who are less fit or those wishing to try out racing without the pressure of being in a formal weekend A4/women’s race.  They really want to encourage ‘newbies’ to give it a go at this – the idea of this (slowest) group is that the speed is restricted to the slowest rider so no one is to get dropped, people then have the option of jumping onto the next fastest group when it catches up.  The faster 2 groups are obviously allowed to ride on at whatever the race pace of the group is.

Marshalls:
The race route will have a lead car and be marshalled at roundabouts to ensure the safety of participants.

Prizes:
They plan to chose from different categories each week (eg: first across the line, first junior male/female, first woman, KOH (on Kilmastulla) for a nominated group etc) for  a number of prizes each week, the aim being that at least every couple of weeks each rider has a prize they can target.  Results and photos will be published on their facebook site on the Friday.

Entry fee on the night is €5Euro and riders need to have a club racing licence to race.

First race is at 7pm on Thursday 9th of April.

Contact  either Majella Moyles 0876618801
or Sinnead Oakes 0872199569

Can’t wait to see you all there!

Update from the Ring of Kerry Registration

Registration for the Ring of Kerry didn't exactly go smoothly for them yesterday. They had to close down the registration but apparently there are still "thousands" of slots available. According to their site and facebook account they will issue a statement on Thursday on when they expect the system to be fixed and registration will re-open. http://www.ringofkerrycycle.ie/registration/

Ring of Kerry Online Registration Opens at 1pm

The online registration for the 2015 Ring of Kerry opens at 1pm today.  If you haven't already registered with one of the charities visit http://www.ringofkerrycycle.ie/ to directly register.

Last year registration was open for a few days but people still missed out because it closed sooner than a lot of people expected.  There is no indication when it will close this year BUT if you want to do the Ring of Kerry your best bet is to register today and secure your place.

Congrats to Junior racers!!

Last Sunday, 31st March , was the first of the Munster junior races in Dungarvan. It was also the first race for two of our Junior lads Cathal and Jack. It was definitely '' straight in at the deep end '' with regards to the weather conditions. There was a brutal head wind to contend with for much of it , but was made like of by both lads. Reports of  near 30kph averages are a sure sign that they are serious about the 2015 race season !!
Jack and Cathal finished 7th and 11th respectedly. Brilliant for their first time out. Onwards and upwards now that the First Race butterflies are out of the system.

Paddy.
