Cycling for Beginners and Improvers

South Tipperary Cycling Club will be holding cycling training spins for Beginners and Improvers every Wednesday evening until the end of August starting on Wednesday June 17th as part of National Bike Week.

The Training will be over short 10km-20km routes and will cover topics such as bike handling, group cycling etc).  The training will be lead by club member John Byrne.

Meet at Gleeson Tyres, Clogheen Road, Cahir at 7pm sharp. Non club members welcome for two spins just come along with your bike & helmet. Helmets MUST be worn. After their first two spins non members must register with Cycling Ireland to be covered by insurance.

Field Day Update

Thanks to everyone who came along to our Field Day yesterday in Clogheen. It was a fantastic day with a great turnout especially given how many other events were in the locality at the same time.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the day with the 8km cycle a great hit. We got feedback on a couple of occasions that the marshaling was very good with every junction manned so thanks to all who helped out with this. We also learned some things for next year (including that we should try to avoid dates that other local field days are on and that our advertising, especially online, could have been better). We will take that feedback to make it an even better event next year.

But overall we were very pleased and hopefully have a few more new members. For those who expressed an interest in joining we meet at 9am on Sunday mornings. Check our website and facebook for details of the meeting place but for the rest of June it will be in Clogheen outside St Paul's centre.

We will also be holding beginners cycles midweek. More on that to come shortly.

Thanks to the South Tipp Sports Partnership and National Bike Week for sponsoring the event.

Invite to club members by Tour de Munster for training spin

*** Notice to all club members ***
As you may know I've taken part in the Tour de Munster for the last number of years which is in aid of Down Syndrome. Many of you have already joined us from Clonmel in Feb this year and last.
This coming Saturday 6th of June is one of its training spins '' The Tough Tipp ''. The organiser has opened it up to any of our club members that would like to do it. Please find a link to route below:

The 2015 edition will start/finish at the DS Limerick Centre beside the Castletroy Park Hotel.
Registration will be open at 9:30am and kick-off will be at 10am sharpish.
We'll simply ask for 15 euro to cover refreshments, support vehicle and use of Hotel Leisure facilities for a swim, a dip in the hot tub and a shower after the cycle.

The DS centre will welcome participants to visit before the start and members of the Limerick DS branch are very kindly laying on some light refreshments when we return in the late afternoon.
The main route will see us hit lunch at just over the half way mark in the very scenic Dromineer.
Here members of Tipp DSI will be very kindly providing sandwiches and participants in the Branch's Cookery/Baking classes will again be providing us with some very special treats.
Hopefully these will be well digested before we face the day's second iconic climb at the Step.
>>>>     If any of you are interested in doing it please let me know by private message/ text before Wednesday evening as need to know numbers for food stop.
There are a few new '' gems of hills'' added to it this year around Broadford for all you Mountain Goats!! Followed by the now (im) famous The Step on the Silvermines  *:) happy

FYI       Its 130km cycle with 1400 metres of climbing.
Thanks
Paddy.
